You Are Not A Body

YOU ARE NOT A BODY
We live in a society obsessed with decency and covered in shame.  Many years ago, I began asking the question, could decency and shame be linked in some way? At the time, this question seemed radical. After all, I was a young Christian man who had been programmed to see through a very narrow lens; from the moment I was born I was taught right and wrong. As an infant I drank from the breast of my mother and ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. I conformed to a very narrow view of societal morality and would grow up fighting to protect it. My idea of decency was shaped by a small community church of no more than 100 in a small town of 15 thousand. And then one day freedom came knocking on my door and I was bold enough to answer.  Freedom came with the question, “who told you that you were naked?”  I would spend the next 10 to 15 years unpacking this question!

This question would ultimately lead me to a beautiful place of realization and to more radical questions. Like, who is the ‘I’ that is naked or clothed? Am I the body? If I’m not the body, then who am I and why am I ashamed of the body? These questions would ultimately liberate me from the prison of form.

It is imperative to stop at this point and ask the following questions, do I believe I am the body? In other words, am I identified as the body?  Have you ever experienced shame regarding body image? If there were no cameras or mirrors, would you feel the same way about your body as you currently do? If there where no Sports Illustrated body issue’s or Victoria Secret commercials, would you still feel the same way about your body?

If we identify in the body and allow the actions of the body to define us, we will be limited in expression. Fighting to protect the thing we believe we are, be it male or female; Muslim, Jew, or Christian; mother or father; husband or wife. We will build walls around us, but instead of using brick and mortar, we use morality and law. These walls, that are thought of as protection, end up imprisoning us. But if you tear down the walls of societal decency, morality, and religious law, you will be tossed out as an outcast.
This is the inevitable crux of the revelation…do I or don’t I live in freedom even though it may cost me everything?  But if you’re not the body, who is the one capable of such losses?  Who is the one clinging to possessions, titles, reputation? Aren’t these things just concepts? The freedom that flows from letting go of concepts and their baggage is tremendous. It opens us up to experience the moment in ways you never thought were possible when living under the invisible prison of decency and shame.

Every journey begins with a single step. Beginning the journey of letting go is no different. It begins with the single step of yielding the mind to the possibility of being wrong. The three words I’m about to teach you will begin the transformation. These three words hold in them the power of surrender. The three words are: I DON’T KNOW. By simply saying I don’t know, you are learning to surrender the need to be right. This is powerful!  So if your ready to take the first step towards freedom, wake up each morning with the mantra of I don’t know.

Yielding to the nigh

Yielding to the breath undoes the cyclical nature of the Adamic mind, the beast conclusions, and manifestations that cause us to feel the in and out, up and down of survival, and releases a continual awakening within. When making reference to yielding I simply mean being, for being is yielding and yielding being. Being encompasses the stillness and the expression, the night and the morning, the light and the darkness. Being does not try to yield to the mystery of the night for it is the night nor does it try to awaken to the understanding of the morning for it is the morning. Yielding to the breath is the effortless doing of the timeless one.

The Perfection of this Moment

7/21/2017

The perfection of this moment is far bigger than we realize. The beauty of NOW's expression is more immense then we understand. The fullness of the All in all surpasses our individuality and compels us to embrace the exploration of oneness.  Apart from the societal morality that has restrained, restricted and imprisoned is the eternal expression that never returns void.  This expression exists only in that which is…this present moment of perfection; and continues its perpetual reverberation throughout the timeless blooming of the eternal.
When the realization comes to you that Life is a journey with no destination, it enables the free expression of the now, where failure is void of power.  When the realization comes to you that the Way is not pointing to a destination but that which you perceived as a destination is the eternal blooming of the Way…of this moment!  Most are walking right past the beauty of this moment in the Way as they wholeheartedly strive to reach the destination they have been convinced lies just around the corner.  But in all that striving the beauty of the Way, the beauty of the Path is somehow forsaken; and around every corner is another corner, because the Way is not a linear path that leads to a separate destination but is an eternal helix wrapped in itself.

CONTROL

9/15/2016

What will you do oh man, you who try to plan your existence and control your tomorrow, when you realize tomorrow controls you?  What will you do when you are awakened to the truth that you have allowed your tomorrow, a day that IS NOT, to rob from you the present?  What will you do when you realize that the wisdom you use to plan your tomorrow, the wisdom you have molded your life by, is an invisible prison for the mind?  Will you dare to break free from the misery of this prison, from the foolishness that is this wisdom; will you dare to JUST BE?

Listen closely, you who read this page. A Lion was not meant to live in a cage, nor were you meant to live in tomorrow.  Unlike an actual prison, tomorrow is but an illusion seen by the one who practices the wisdom of this age and desires to create their pleasure.  This illusion, like most, takes the unaware deeper and deeper into its prison and it is here, in this dark cell, deep within the prison of their mind, that they are introduced to this illusion called control.   Disguised by the prison which masquerades as wisdom, control is introduced as preparation or planning.

This illusion of tomorrow brings with it a fear of the unknown, which causes those who are prey too it to plan and prepare in an attempt to feel secure.  The problem is tomorrow never comes!  Every tomorrow has a tomorrow of its own and those who are unaware of the moment spend their entire existence planning for a day that is not, instead of enjoying the day that is.  Every time they feel too have caught up with tomorrow it alludes them with thoughts of what has not been accomplished, enjoyed, experienced, and with the responsibility of that which is not.   And why do they worry about a nonexistent day?  About what they will eat, what they will wear, and where they will sleep?  Only those who do not intimately know I AM concern themselves with the trivial things of the nonexistent tomorrow.   They wear themselves out with the tedious work of paddling up the river of life instead of enjoying a float trip on it!

Let us be as one who just learned to float, being carried by the oceans tide. For we are free to enjoy this moment!  We cannot control the illusion of tomorrow any more than a man dying of thirst in the desert can control his hallucinations.   This feeling of control only exists to rob us of our pleasure, disarm us of our joy, and keep us from the ecstasy of this moment!

This day will unfold as a flower blooming in the sunlight.  Any attempt to control the flowers blooming is nothing more than the manipulation of truth, the manifestation of an illusion, and the absence of love!  Love does not desire to control but to set free.  Control places stipulations upon the potential of the flower, according to its perception of tomorrow and robs the flower of its potential today.  Instead of rejoicing in the flowers beauty control works to make it beautiful.  Instead of celebrating the flowers unique personality, control forces its will upon it and robs the world of it unique expression.  Love, however, embraces the flowers beauty and to love, even its flaws are perfect!   Love allows the flower to unfold in whatever way it chooses, embracing, enjoying and resting fully in it!

Be diligent then, you who read this page, to enter into the Rest of Today.  Allow no longer the illusion of control to cause you to miss Today!  Instead, effortlessly sink into the realization of this moment; sink into “I AM”.  For those who do are the Timeless ones, the Eternal ones, the Immortals.   They are the “I AM’s”, born of Him, in Him and He in them.  They are the ageless ones marked by ecstasy and perpetual joy, those who delight in what is for that which is not, is no more!  They effortlessly navigate the River of Life for they are one with it, they are its current.

Do not try to not plan or prepare, simply realize the moment that you are in and enjoy it.  If you are planning, than be lost in the moment of planning, not in what you are planning or in the thought of tomorrow, but in this moment of planning.   Preparation only becomes an attempt to control when your thoughts are of what you are preparing for rather than the enjoyment of the preparation. Let go of tomorrow, for it is not and embrace Today for it is good!

BEING

“Who you are trying to become is your greatest enemy!  It’s who Adam and Eve were trying to become that blinded them from who they were!”
Only in Awakening to our true Self will we discover true liberty, love and living.  There are many who TRY to love the unlovable, but struggle to even love their own family members.  There are many who TRY to live, but are in a continual struggle with their past, allowing it to define them, and anxious about their future, allowing it to rob them of the present.  There are many who TRY to walk in freedom, but realize quickly that even their attempts at freedom are evidence of their bondage and they use this perceived freedom as a way to cover their nakedness!
I have discovered that Life, Love and Freedom cannot be attained by self-effort…no matter how much I TRY, I always come up wanting.  My FREEDOM was not worked for, it was discovered within.  My ability to unconditionally LOVE did not come through spiritual discipline, hours of prayer or weeks of fasting, it too was discovered within!   LIVING is more than just one’s ability to interact with the world; LIVING is only discovered in Christ as we realize that the veil of the false self was torn and removed in our co-crucifixion.  In this awakening we STOP trying and start LIVING!  The need to BECOME fades away in the realization of BEING!  Trying to BECOME, hides the authentic you!  We are, whether we have awakened to this reality or not, hidden in Christ; and Christ is hidden in us!  The effort to become causes us to hide from the Christ, from our divinity.  Like Adam we find ourselves running from the sacred place, to hide behind the bush of ego.  We use our success, our platforms, and our accomplishments to clothe our nakedness and shame; to hide the insecurities, fears and disgrace we want no one else to see.  And in this place of disgrace, we still find grace!  We hear the question, “Who told you that you were naked?”   And in the arms of Love Himself we find, for the first time, the Freedom to let go of ego and the power to just be! In Christ you are FREE to just BE!
There is no such thing as an insignificant moment!  Each and every moment carries with it a significant opportunity to live, move and enjoy ourselves in the Christ! The journey of transfiguration is now, the moment is here, this is all that is.
